EventREEL – Cannes | Inside and Out of MIPCOM

Posted by Shawna Cox on October 31, 2007

ok… weeks gone by, but this film girl won’t rest till Dakar!! yeah, right…

This is your 3 day intro to MIPCOM. It isn’t as scary as some would like to have you think – considering there is much sand and cappuccinos and $$ cars as one can handle!

Ok – How is it that ‘Cafe Beano’ Rob from Calgary is at MIPCOM? this voice on the bus from Frankfurt “SHAWNA…” = Rob…

I guess I wasn’t going to be alone and without direction… but got it fast when Rob joined one of my Calgary Mentors, Randy Bradshaw – also fellow Cafe Beano fan.

That’s the way to start off MIPCOM… A capaccino and a couple of Calgary Film Guys….

The opening gala event – highlighted India and one of the BEST DJ’s I’ve heard play in my lifetime!!

Cool bollywood mixed with campy retro, the swag and the fellow Canucks rounded out a FAB night (with the $20 drinks after the free bar of champagne and Indian delights closed… :-( )

It was great to be so far away, yet so close to home…

Like I said – multiple floors and this is leading to ‘the Pit’ where the Canadian contingency was hanging out – and the best little Capaccino stop in the middle of it all that I could never find again…

BBC had their own comp. bar!! Nice!! Open patio doors to let in the last legs of summer breeze… I get paid to do this? Ok, right, I pay myself to do this…

and to sleep – and yes, a pair of mes pantelons went ‘poof!’ disappeared in the hotel room… yeah right… oh well – change is good, right?

next Stop, A.S.O. and Paris…
